Therapeutic Methodologies

EMDR Therapy for trauma treatment.

EMDR stands for eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing. It was a system developed by Francine Shapiro to help people relieve themselves of emotional distress, trauma, and especially PTSD. EMDR works by helping your brain process distressing memories in a more adaptive way, allowing you to move past the emotional grip of those traumatic experiences. You don’t even need to verbalize your trauma to experience the benefits of EMDR treatment. EMDR facilitates the integration of traumatic memories into a your broader life story. It is an especially useful therapeutic modality for you if you feel that you’ve exhausted talk therapy and need something more.

Imago Therapy for relational work.

Imago therapy was developed with the goal to help partners reconnect, heal, and grow in their relationships. Imago hones in on partners’ childhood wounds and helps them repair and grow past them within the relationship. It offers you and your partner(s) very practical and concrete interventions, such as the Imago Dialogue, that you can immediately apply in your daily lives to improve your relationships through the fostering of safety and security. Through Imago therapy, couples/polycules are encouraged to transform conflict into an opportunity for growth and connection. By addressing past hurts, strengthening communication, and practicing empathy, your can build deeper emotional bonds and foster healthier, more fulfilling relationships.

Narrative Therapy for Empowerment.

Narrative therapy, as the name suggests, focuses on your story. It helps you find meaning in your life and purpose in your interactions. It shifts focus from pathologizing you to empowering you. It helps you externalize your problems, deconstruct your issues, and identify dominant narratives. Narrative therapy helps you see how you’ve been influenced by external factors, like societal expectations or past relationships, and enables you to change how you interpret your own journey. By helping you reframe your story to reflect your strengths, resilience, and values, narrative therapy facilitates you becoming your own agent of change.

Psychodynamic theory for revealing the unconscious.

Psychodynamic theory is grounded in the belief that our past experiences, especially those from childhood, significantly shape our present-day emotional lives. Many of these experiences reside in the unconscious, meaning they are not readily accessible to our conscious awareness but still play a crucial role in how we respond to people, situations, and even ourselves. By examining these deeper layers of your psyche, we can work toward healing old wounds, breaking unhelpful cycles, and fostering healthier ways of thinking, feeling, and relating. This can lead to you to experience profound personal growth, better self-awareness, and more fulfilling connections with others.

Inner Healer wisdom for Integration.

Inner healing wisdom is a modality that was developed by the Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) in their work around psychedelic integration. Some psychedelic experiences may bring up unresolved trauma, emotional pain, or difficult emotions. In Inner Healing Wisdom, we use these challenging moments as opportunities for deeper healing. This approach to therapy trusts the patient’s intrinsic ability to grow and heal. Much like the body heals knows how to heal its own wounds, so too does your mind have the capacity to heal itself with some support and scaffolding. In trusting the client’s inner healer, the therapist works with you translate the powerful insights from your experience into meaningful, lasting change in your life.
